Young carers create inspiration for all!
Thursday 26th February was Young Carers Awareness Day and to celebrate this four of our students (who are also Young Carers) created an inspirational piece of artwork with local artist Cosmic
The theme of this year’s YCAD is “When I Grow Up”. It highlights how difficult it can be for young carers to realise their hopes and dreams for the future without the right support. The aim of the day was to help them believe in their dreams and aspirations.

Please can you remind your child that if they forget their bus pass they MUST come to reception BEFORE the end of the day to get a temporary bus pass. Requests made at such late notice may result in them missing their bus due to the time it takes to call through and gain permission from the local authority.
*Pick N Mix for Parents!*
- Tips from the
Parents Forum -

There are numerous ways you can support your child from ensuring they are wearing the correct uniform to being aware of their homework schedule. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start if you want to get more involved – The Pick N Mix is a collection of useful tips and suggestions for engaging with your child's learning.
We will be sharing our Pick N Mix of the week in up-coming newsletters!
This week's Pick:

“How was school today?” because they will say either “fine” “okay” or “something else!!!”
“What was the best lesson today?” and “why?”
“What new thing did you find out today?” Ask them to explain it to you
“What did you struggle with today?” Ask them how they will deal with that.

“What are you most proud of today?” Ask if you can see the work.
You can find the full Pick N Mix list here
Year 11s become county Champions!
Our un-defeated super-squad.

Last Thursday saw the first football County Final of the season, at which our Y11s claimed the trophy having overcome a very good Poltair side (and a very strong wind!). The score was 3-1 thanks to goals from Kian Thomas, Toby Webb and Kai Cornish.

More sporting success in the latest Sports round-up!

Literacy Advice for Parents

All students now have a new icon on their ipads - it's called Literacy Ladders and is designed to enable students to identify the progress of their literacy skills. The Literacy Ladders PDF is also on the literacy page of the school website.

Students should have a literacy sticker on the front of their books and need to take a photo of it so that they are aware of their literacy skills target when completing extended writing tasks across the curriculum.

Showbie group 677GH holds resources to help students with their literacy and a space where national competitions are regularly uploaded.

All students have registered for and should have undertaken an initial test to establish a personalise, bespoke online spelling course. Students can access this via an icon on their iPad home screen. Other helpful websites such as have also been added to their iPad home screen.

Mrs Ribenfors is running 'Lyrical Literacy' on Tuesday lunchtimes in E3 where we focus on song lyrics, rap and poetry. All students are welcome to come along.
