Earthquake Preparedness Packages will be going home with Grade School and Early Childhood students next week. Please check your email for details on Tuesday.

Parking Etiquette and Policy Thank you for the increased awareness in the parking lot before and after school, and big bouquets of roses to the parents who have stepped forward to monitor the cross walk at 3 pm! We have been testing opening the gravel yard between 8 and 8:45 am, for Early Childhood Centre drop-off only, and would love to receive your feedback!
Harvest Lunch Welcome by 7th Grade Students


VWSS AGM Notice - The Annual General Meeting is coming up on October 26. Please find the announcement linked here. Membership and other forms can be found on our website on the Society page.

Screenagers - Thurs Oct 13, 7 - 8:30 pm at Capilano University. A documentary on how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions to finding balance. A Parent Council initiative to help families in their journey with media and their children. Followed by discussion with a panel. Open to the public. Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Students (grade 6 and up) free. Tickets are available online here.

Disconnect to Reconnect - Thurs Oct 20, 7 - 8:30 pm at the Grade School Hall. Cris Rowan is a pediatric occupational therapist, biologist, author, and prolific speaker who is passionate about changing the ways in which children use technology. Learn how you can manage balance between activities your family needs for growth and success, and technology use. While appropriate for all ages, this evening is geared toward parents with children in the ECC and the lower grades. By donation here or at the door.

Waldorf Artistic Experiences for Parents - Session 1: Wet on Wet Watercolour Painting with Abegael Fisher-Lang on Friday mornings, Oct 14 - Nov 4, 9:00 - 9:45 am (following your first cup at Coffee Morning) in the Music Room at the Grade School. $20 for 4 week session or $7 drop-in (with advance notice) To register contact Laura at *absolutely no experience necessary; adults only.

VWS Photo Gallery - Speaking of photos, a few additions have been made on the Gallery page on our website, including Michaelmas and the Harvest Lunch. Our camera has been acting up, so some are a little blurry, but hopefully this gives you an idea of these celebrations.

Grade School Playground Committee - Do you have landscaping, design, construction or project management experience and want to apply it to beautifying our children’s play areas? We are seeking volunteers to form a Playground Committee responsible for developing and managing a program of works for playground improvements. Contact for more details.

Afternoon Cross Guards - We are looking for volunteers to help manage the crosswalk at the 3pm bell. If you would like to be part of keeping our parking lot safe for children to cross, please be in contact with Malcolm in person or by email at

Red Door Store - We are currently open most mornings and Monday and Friday afternoons. If you are available to help expand our afternoon hours to include: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, please be in touch with Ella or sign up on the bulletin board outside the Music Room.

Children's Christmas Faire - The Christmas Faire Committee meets weekly at 8:45 in the Colin Dutson room during Community Coffee. All are welcome to join and help tick off the many 'behind the scenes' tasks required to make this event a success.
Grade 6 Study of Ancient Rome


Oops! The snail party shown in last weeks edition was actually grade 3 students, not grade 2... Though I might try, I cannot keep them small forever. And the AGM was listed as Thursday night, when in fact it will be on Wednesday October 26!
