2017-18 Recommitment - January 13: The pre-registration deadline for Preschool & Kindergarten 2017-18 is today! Families with children currently in Preschool or Kindergarten do not need to re-apply, but do need to submit a Commitment Form (available outside the classrooms and the Reception Office) and a $200 deposit. Parent & Tot families interested in Preschool need to submit an application.

Warm Welcomes - Please help us extend a warm welcome to Oceane Cheon who has joined Plum Cottage Kindergarten and to Fabienne Cheon who has joined Grade 2. We are also pleased to welcome back Amanda Butterworth who completed her teacher training practicum with us in December, and has returned for an extended Waldorf apprenticeship until the February break.

Attendance - Please remember to call when your child is sick. For the Grade School, leave a message on 604-985-7435 x 5; in the Early Childhood Centre use extensions: 101 Preschool, 102 Plum Cottage, 103 Red Rose, 104 Sunflower; and at the High School call: 604-986-2922.

Parking - Please do not park in the fire lane, bus lane or in front of the access to the playground. You may drop off or pick up your child in front of the school, but do not keep your car idling and do not park in the Fire/Bus Lane. Emergency vehicles need access to this lane at all times. Thank you. The neighbours driveways also need to be respected. Please remember to park the legal distance from their driveways. They have informed the school that they will call the by-law officers if there are any infractions in this regard.

Red Door Store - We have reopened after the winter break. Pop in and take advantage of our Winter Sale, soothe ailments with healing balms, and peruse our 'gently used' section for 2nd hand treasures.

Gift Card Update - The deadline to place orders for February is January 23. Congratulations to Rebecca and Sisco McLaren for winning the $50 card for January!

Lost and Found - There is quite an accumulation of warm and cozy (very small and large) jackets in the Lost and Found box. Please check this on a regular basis. If not claimed, everything will go to the local goodwill store during the February break.

In the last few years, for part of the Grade 12 English work, I have on occasion organized what I like to call the iPod Poetry Project. It involves the Grade 12s choosing poems that particularly speak to them, and after some practice and rehearsal, going to a professional recording studio and committing them to digital posterity, a form that can be easily shared and carried on one's digital device.

Is there anyone in our community who could offer a professional level recording studio for one day, probably all day, within the next month or six weeks? Please contact me via email at: if you have any ideas or leads so that we may follow through with this project.

What a full first week back! We were paid a visit by the Three Kings in our Monday Assembly, parents gathered for a discussion with Margo Running on the topic of Young Children and the Importance of Sleep, our Board of Trustees held their first meeting of the new year, our grad class hosted friends from the Seattle Waldorf School who slept over night and performed Eurythmy at the Grade School, and now we are getting ready for our annual Open House, tomorrow (Saturday). This January feels fresh and full of vitality. There are tons of ways to get involved and share your gifts! Please reach out to find out more!
Many blessings
