Many of us hold the Christmas Fair near and dear year-round and preliminary discussions have been going on for some time, however November always means it’s officially Christmas Fair season! Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 19th – the Vancouver Waldorf School’s 46th annual Children’s Christmas Fair.
The Christmas Fair is our largest school event, celebrating the magic and wonder of the winter season as well as an Open House and outreach opportunity. This is the day that children dreamily remember long after they have grown up, that has inspired many families to enroll into our school and that will be the mother lode for your Christmas shopping!
To that end, we will once again be hosting the popular Friday Night Marketplace for the VWS community, family and friends, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Friday, November 18th (adults only). This is the chance to be first in line to browse and do your Christmas shopping, free from the curious eyes of little ones. Our Marketplace overflows with specialty crafts, Waldorf-inspired toys and books, and other unique goods and draws people back year after year for its wonderful selection and quality. For those unable to come Friday night and for all the younger ones, don’t despair – there will still be plenty of beautiful items left to peruse and purchase on Saturday.

The Christmas Fair is a very large undertaking and its success depends on the generous gifts of time and energy of many parents, staff and faculty. In fact, it is the one annual event where the school seeks 100% volunteer participation from the parent body. Opportunities for involvement include organizing specific activities, preparing special foods, advertising the event in your neighborhood, setting up the school prior to the Fair, participating in shift-work and helping clean up after the Fair is over. Individual Coordinators have been solicited to organize specific areas, including food venues, shopping areas and craft-making activities.
The Christmas Fair could not operate without the generous support of volunteer parents taking responsibility. We need your help to make this as memorable and successful a Fair as possible. We do this for our community and our children. It's incredibly rewarding and helps galvanize us as a community. Thank you in advance.
